STUDY DAY
Rabbi Monique Susskind Goldberg is a graduate
of the Rabbinical School of the Schechter Institute.
She is one of the two major researchers at the Center
for Women in Jewish Law at the Schechter Institute,
which offers alternative halakhic solutions to to
the Rabbinical Court to free "agunot".
Rabbi David Golinkin, is president of the
Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies, and is one
of the leading authorities on Jewish Law in the
Masorti Movement. His latest book is " Status of
Women in Jewish Law".
Judith Edelman-Green is a creative, innovative
Jewish educator who founded and runs the Bar/Bat
Mitzvah program for the Special Child. Judith is
a graduate in Jewish Studies of the Schechter Institute.
Tzipi Heckelman is known for her 20+ years
as an inspiring Jewish Studies teacher in Zfat.
She and her husband, Rabbi Heckelman (z"l) were
the founders of the Masorti congregation, Shalva
in Zfat. Tzipi has recently moved to Jerusalem where
she continues her legacy to make the Tanach alive
and relevant to life today.
Rabbi Shira Israel is a graduate of the Rabbinical
School of the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies.
Born in Iran, educated as an engineer, with years
in hi tech and marketing, Rabbi Israel leaps into
the world of spirituality with a force which brings
her students with her. One class with her is truly
an experience.
Gila Katz, is Director of Midreshet Yerushalayim,
Europe, and is also a rabbinical student at The
Schechter Institute for Jewish Studies.
Chana Klebansky is a rabbinical student at
the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies and also
has a degree in Music. She is a Russian speaker
and will be teaching for the third time at the Women's
Study Day.
Rabbi Sandra Kochmann, born in Paraguay,
is a graduate of the Seminario Rabbinicoin Argentina.
Rabbi Kochmann is currently serving as Director
of Education at Kehilat Hamasortit Mishpachtit in
Jerusalem.
Dr. Rénee Levine Melammed is assistant
Dean of Advanced Studies at the Schechter Institute
of Jewish studies. She is an expert on the Women
of Spain and won two National Jewish Book Awards
in the U.S. for her book, "Heretics or Daughters
of Israel?". She has published an article on the
"Woman Teacher in 12th century, Cairo".
Chanah Schchpetoba, who will be teaching
in Russian, has just completed a master Degree in
Jewish History from the Jewish Theological Seminary
in New York. She is continuing her studies at the
Schechter Institute this year.
Saralee Schrell Fox, is a Jewish Educator.
Her M.A. from the Jewish Theological Seminary is
in Family Education. Since aliyah to Israel she
has been running a Masorti gan and serves now as
Education chairperson for the Masorti Movement.
Prof. Alice Shalvi is known for her groundbreaking
work in women's rights and education for girls.
She is the founder of the Israel Women's Network,
served from 75'-90 as the voluntary principal of
Pelech, the innovative Orthodox High school for
girls in Jerusalem, and is currently chair of Executive
Board of Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies.
Rabbi Valerie Stessin is the first woman
to become a Masorti Rabbi in Israel at The Schechter
Institute. She has worked 6 years in the Ukraine
and Russia in informal Education. For the past 6
years she has been at Keren Tali. She will be teaching
in Russian.
Dr. Marcia Turner, is a graduate of the Jewish
Theological Seminary. For the last 25 years, Dr.
Turner taught Jewish Philosophy at Bar Ilan University
and Biblical Studies at Hebrew Union College.
