Dana Rone Saroken, a visiting JTS student who spent a year with us at Schechter, inititated a campaign - "Dear Israel"- that brought smiles to the faces of thousands of Israelis in the Jerusalem area. Dana, with the help of a host of volunteers from SIJS and around the city, asked Jews (from all over the world) to send handmade and decorative cards/pictures/posters of support and encouragement to Israel. Once received, the students posted them all over the store fronts, bus stops, places of terrorist attacks, hospitals, as well as other central places in Jerusalem in an effort to boost morale and show support.
