Applying Jewish Learning to Israeli Life

The Schechter Institute M.A. Program for Israeli educators provides an academic experience not found anywhere else in Israel.

Schechter's broad, interdisciplinary M.A. curriculum focuses on developing better educators. The knowledge that students gain at Schechter has an immediate impact on their work in the classroom and other educational frameworks - improving Israeli education.

Many of the Graduate School's 450 students travel great distances to learn at Schechter, where they become conversant with traditional Jewish sources in a warm yet intellectually rigorous atmosphere. A number of innovative concentrations are offered.

The Schechter student population represents a microcosm of Israeli society. A secular kibbutznik meets an observant principal of a religious school over a page of Talmud. A teacher from a development town joins a colleague from north Tel Aviv in a joint educational project. Stereotypes and misconceptions are replaced with understanding and tolerance.

Over 700 graduates have completed their studies. They return to the field strengthened in their Jewish identity and committed to achieving the same for their students and community members.

The Schechter Institute's Graduate School of Advanced Jewish Studies is an accredited Israeli academic institution of higher learning.
